Whataburger is a big deal in Texas. It's a solid burger that strikes the perfect balance between the ingredients. Everything is fresh, like In-N-Out, but the menu is far more extensive. You can get salads, tenders, tacos breakfast and limited-time specials that people go nuts for. Not only that, Whataburger is open 24 hours a day–meaning you'll never go without the perfect burger.

My friend Amy recently shared a photo of a painting from a student art show. In the piece, two teenage boys dressed in orange are sitting together at a Whataburger, sipping drinks through a straw. The painting is titled “Whataburger is love,” and the young artist wrote in his statement: “We come from different backgrounds, upbringings, and cultures, but we have the right to enjoy the gift God gave to us that is Whataburger.”

People on the West Coast will tell you In-N-Out is the best fast food burger in existence. It's simple, fresh and damn tasty. Even Anthony Bourdain says it's his favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. Unlike other chains that go all out trying to create new products to sell, In-N-Out keeps its eye on the ball. Its menu consists of burgers (you get to choose between a hamburger, cheeseburger or a double-double), fries, shakes, and soda. That's it.
