Best burger chain: In-N-Out or Shake Shack? | The Tylt
In-N-Out is the undisputed king of the West Coast burger. It keeps things simple, fresh and is largely the same restaurant since the chain opened in 1948. Shake Shack is the East Coast underdog, opening in 2004, but has since seen massive expansion across the United States. Both burger chains have built a ravenous user base who will fight to defend their chain's honor. Which one is better? 🍔

In-N-Out's claim to fame is its dedication to freshness. You won't ever find a wilted lettuce leaf, mushy tomato or burnt patty in an In-N-Out burger. The potatoes are even delivered straight from the farm and are cut in the store. The meat is never frozen and the burger is always delicious. In-N-Out abides by the philosophy that less is more. A burger doesn't need to be fancy and dressed up with novelties—it just needs to be a burger. BuzzFeed pitted the two burgers head to head, and this is what one of the reviewers had to say about In-N-Out:
In-N-Out is the stuff of dreams, and when I took a bite, it was better than I remembered. I mean, I KNEW it was good, but eating its crispy bun and fresh lettuce and onion concoction after tasting Shake Shack’s saltiness really reaffirmed my love. I’ll never betray In-N-Out like that again. I would eat it every day, but my doctor doesn’t want me to.
Shake Shack is all about style. Seriously. If you've ever stepped into a Shake Shack, you know the owners have thought about every single, last detail. It shows in the food too. The burgers are meticulously made, and unlike In-N-Out, you can have toppings on your burger because it's 2017. There's something for everyone at Shake Shack: the chicken sandwich is killer, the shakes are next level and the burgers are just really good. Here's what someone at BuzzFeed thinks:
Seriously, this Shake Shack burger deserves way more respect in these burger streets. It was a great blend of all the ingredients. The bread was soft, like a cloud waiting for me to bite it. OK, maybe I’m exaggerating, but that was a damn good burger.
