Which are actually better: cookies or brownies?
The humble chocolate chip cookie is always the right choice. Unlike brownies, cookies offer the perfect amount of chocolate. Even if you choose to load up your cookies with chocolate chips (heck, you can even have chocolate chip cookies that resemble mountains more than they do cookies), a cookie will leave you wanting more. Brownies, on the other hand, are too often sickly sweet. I said it.

Cookies are for the weak; brownies are for the advanced. Only the most mature of chocolate-loving palates can appreciate the beauty that is the brownie. It is chewy, yet crumbly. Moist, yet crunchy. And most importantly, the brownie is eager to surprise. Whether it's an extra handful of chocolate chips, a swirl of salted caramel, or a toss of walnuts, brownies are far more versatile than chocolate chip cookies.
No one is ever going to be upset when you offer them a cookie. Their texture is far superior to that of the wanna-be-cake brownie. (And for those who believe they "just can't choose," kindly exit with your desire for the Brookie. Such a concept should never have been brought to life.)

Two words: edge pieces. The edge of the brownie might be one of the greatest outcomes of the modern kitchen. There is no other satisfying crunch like that of the perimeter of the brownie pan.
