Tagalongs, Trefoils, Samoas, Thin Mints–it does not get better than Girl Scout Cookies. These treats first hit the market in 1917 and began as sugar cookies baked in your local Girl Scout troop's kitchen.

According to Vox's Rachel Sugar, Girl Scout Cookies sales top that of Oreos. Sugar adds:

Girl Scout cookies are a triumph: of marketing, of cookie-baking, of youthful entrepreneurship. Between January and April every year, the more than one million scouts in the U.S. sell about 200 million boxes of the cookies, Fortune recently reported.

But according to Mental Floss, Oreos win out when it comes to worldwide sales. Over 450 billion Oreos have been sold since the cookie's debut in 1912. Since then, Oreo has unveiled a number of flavors, including a pumpkin spice variety for fall, cookie dough for some fun cannibalistic-cookie fun, and birthday cake for the brand's 100th birthday.

There are 12 Girl Scout Cookie varieties. Each is perfect in its own way and tailored to a variety of customer tastes and dietary restrictions. Some people swear by Thin Mints (try putting your next box in the freezer–you won't regret it), while others claim Samoas reign supreme.

Whether you're going for the classic Trefoil or you're getting a pump of Trefoil syrup in your Dunkin' Donuts coffee order, Girl Scout Cookies will always be the best cookie brand around.

There's something special about that cookies-and-cream taste. You could be dipping your Oreo in milk or adding it to ice cream, or perhaps you prefer you Oreos covered in an extra layer of chocolate or in cheesecake-form–no matter what your strategy is, Oreos never get old.

If Oreos are milk's favorite cookie, they must be the country's favorite cookie, too.
